Non-race week execution

We are firm believers in being on our bikes as often as we can. The key phrase being “as we can”. We are fortunate enough to be able to ride to work on most days. The average ride is 20 miles one way which works out really well since we can usually fit in a CritFit WOD in that time frame. We also love riding to work because it allows us the opportunity to maximize our training time while stealing away very little time from family or career. A huge return on investment. Our normal training week looks like this.

Monday is a recovery day. We make sure we spend all our time in Z1-Z2. We are religious about recovery time. Recovery is where we make our gains, not in the hard intervals.

Tuesday in CritFit day. Do the WOD and finish the rest of the ride in Z1-Z2.

Wednesday is a recovery day, Z1-Z2 only.

Thursday is CritFit day. Do the WOD.

Friday is recovery day, Z1-Z2.

Saturday is long ride day. Z2-Z4 as the ride dictates. If a 6/12 hr event is the goal, this is when to work on it. Stretch your endurance and keep your efforts tailored to your event.

Sunday is Jesus’ day. We personally use this day to rest on most occasions. If we are working towards a hard endurance event we will get up early and try to squeeze in 3 hours before our families wakes up.
